Actor and film producer Morgan Freeman made a surprise appearance in two advertisements for Homes.com during the Super Bowl.
Homes.com, based in Richmond, ran two ads during Sunday’s game, one in each half. Actors Dan Levy and Heidi Gardner returned to their roles as executives of the residential real estate marketplace. Inside an office high-rise, they argued with a lawyer over whether they can legally say Homes.com is the best.
At the end of the first ad, Freeman made a surprise appearance. In the second ad, he reprised his role.
“We’re all looking for some place to call home, but first you need a place to look for a place to call home,” Freeman said. “And that’s Homes.com, because it’s the best.”
The ad was created by RPA, a Los Angeles-based advertising firm, and was directed by filmmaker Taika Waititi. Homes.com has also placed ads at the Grammys, the Pro Bowl, podcasts and Reddit, RPA said.

Levy and Gardner have appeared in ads for the website during the past year. A division of CoStar Group, Homes.com launched a $1 billion marketing campaign last year during Super Bowl LVIII with the catchphrase “We’ve done your home work.” In three months, the Homes.com network received 110 million average monthly unique visitors, according to Google Analytics.
“100% of home shoppers use the internet to look for their next home purchase, and we believe that Homes.com is the best place to successfully market a home for sale,” said Andy Florance, CEO of CoStar Group.
Some companies paid up to $8 million for a 30-second ad during the Super Bowl, which drew 120 million viewers last year.
Morgan Freeman appeared in two Homes.com commercials during Sunday’s Super Bowl.
