Wow! President Donald Trump, in his inaugural address to the nation, proclaimed that he was “saved by God (from an assassin's bullet) to make America great again.” So, on top of a disputable mandate he claims from his election, it is apparently the will of God that he be president.
As a Christian, I wonder what god Trump is talking about. My Christian faith tells me that our true citizenship is with all people on this earth, and God — regardless of race, creed, gender expression, nationality or any other classification of humanity. Trump’s extreme rhetoric about nationalism, “manifest destiny” and "us versus them" talk is at odds with that thought.
My faith tells me we should feed the hungry and help the poor, not mass deport people and divide families. My faith tells me we should preserve and protect this great gift God has given us — this earth.

Finally, my Christian faith warns me that any person with the immense power, who self-proclaims to be chosen by God, is a dangerous person. It's akin to worshipping a false idol. Did anyone else notice that President Trump failed to put his hand on the Bible when he took his oath of office?
If God does, in fact, choose presidents and kings — which I don’t believe He does — I cannot believe His choice would be someone who advocates so many things contrary to what He teaches us.
Like all humans on this earth, Donald Trump was created by God and has, I believe, deep within him, God’s image. My prayer for this president (and all elected officials) is that someday, somehow, they actually “walk the walk” of being a Christian instead of simply proclaiming they are Christian — or worse, self-servingly proclaiming that they are chosen by God.
